By the end of March 2020, the faith of IPL 2020 will be decided. If the circulation of the deadly virus in India goes out of the hand, the 13th edition of IPL will probably be cancelled.
According to the BCCI (Board of Control for Cricket in India) President Sourav Ganguly, the board will be reviewing the situation every week. The 13th edition of IPL (Indian Premier League) may be postponed if more of the COVID-19 cases arise in India.
IPL 2020 which was set to begin on 29th March is postponed till 15th April due to the lethal virus.
According to the resources, The BCCI is also considering a cut-down IPL season likely at the end of this year. The match will even be cancelled if the condition worsens. On Monday morning more than 30 new cases of COVID-19 raised India’s tally to 427 from Bihar, Gujarat, Maharashtra, Uttar Pradesh and Tamil Nadu. After three more Coronavirus deaths, the death toll rose to seven on Sunday.
India has been completely lockdown as well as all the bus services, and train services are suspended till 31st March. All the sports events have also been deferred. The cases all over the world have reached 325000 with 14000 deaths.
Furthermore, the news agency has stated that the fate of the IPL will be decided on 24th March through video conferencing between the franchisees and BCCI (Board of Control for Cricket in India).
There will be a meeting on 24th March, Tuesday to discuss the further process of IPL 2020. BCCI offices and hotels have been closed due to the virus; therefore, the meeting will be held on the conference call.
The Indian Sports Ministry, meanwhile, reported earlier that the pronouncement on IPL would only be held after the government comes out with a new advisory after 15th April.
